In addition, we run a regular weekly music session in Barnstaple for a number of local community hubs and day respite centres. SHARE MUSIC SOUTH-WEST has developed its services to include some specialist workshops for participants with dementia we use a variety of music for enjoyment and relaxation, and in the process try to achieve a level of engagement and participation. We have already planned further courses and workshops (see Future Workshops). Feedback from these workshops has been excellent - everyone (both disabled and able-bodied helpers!) had fun, grew in confidence and achieved well beyond their expectations. Since we started in 2008 we have run 45 courses and workshops (see Past Activities) which were attended by over 500 participants. The activities are conducted in the company of other musicians and helpers working together under the guidance of very experienced professional tutors.
